Mets Trade for Gary Matthews Jr.

As first reported by Jon Heyman on twitter, the Mets have acquired Gary Matthews Jr. from the Angels. Apparently, the Angels are picking up a large portion of the contract. And is speculating that the deal is going to involve a low-level minor leaguer, or relief pitcher.

Also, Cerrone hears that some MLB sources are speculating that this move will be part of a bigger deal, so stay tuned...

Jon Morosi of is tweeting that the Mets are giving up Brian Stokes in the deal.

Not horrible, but still not excited about this deal. I smell something else here...

Apparently the deal is what it is. I can't say I'm excited about that, but at the same time it doesn't hurt because of the money they are getting for Matthews. It's a wash to me...
