Looks like Mets fans can hold out hope for one more day that perhaps, one day, Joe Mauer may end up in New York. According to Bob Nightengale on twitter, Mauer "laughed" at Monday's report that he was close to agreeing to a 10 year extension with the Twins, saying there is no truth to that report. Although this does keep Mauer on the potential free agent market for next summer, there still seems to be the overall feeling that the Twins are going to extend him, the question is just for how long.
In the world of starting pitching, Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com hears that "a number of National League Teams" are keeping an eye on Kris Benson. I think I speak for all Mets fans when I say, GOD NO. We've been there and dealt with that (and her). He (and her) were a serious pain the first time, and he wasn't even good enough to justify it, at the time. I hope for his sake a number of teams are looking at him, I just hope that number does not include the Mets...
